On 11 May, the chairman board of China National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance approved the applications of Dow Chemical (China) Investment Company (Abbr. “Dow”) and Beijing TeraSolar Photothermal Technologies Co., Ltd. (Abbr “TeraSolar”) on joining the Alliance. So far, the total members the Alliance has reached to 66.
The Dow Chemical Company is one of the largest chemical companies in the world. In the year of 2014, the sale of Dow has exceeded 58,000,000,000 dollars, meanwhile, Dow has employed 53,000 staff and owned 201 factories in 35 countries, and the categories of its products have reached to 6000. With its integrated, market-driven and industry-leading business in special chemistry, high and new materials, agricultural science and plastics, Dow provides products and services for nearly 180 countries and regions in markets of packaging, electronic products, water treatment, coating and agriculture.
The Dow Chemical Company has a complete product line for high temperature heat transfer fluid (oil). As the heat transfer oil for heat storage medium and pipeline system, Dow’s synthetic organic heat transfer oil Dowtherm A and Dowtherm XE have been put into use in numbers of CSP plants successfully. Of which, Dowtherm A has a unique chemical structure with excellent thermal stability.
Beijing TeraSolar Photothermal Technologies Co., Ltd is a company which devotes to developing CSP technology and CSP industry. Its predecessor is solar thermal technology R & D department of Beijing shiliyuan science and technology Co., Ltd. TeraSolar has been doing research in CSP technology since 1998, after 15 years of endeavor, TeraSolar has obtained the core tech and complete independent intellectual property rights of the whole industry chain in CSP field which includes product manufacturing technology, engineering installation technology, system integration technology and operation and maintenance technology. The TeraSolar CSP technology system comes into shape with strong competitiveness which contains Reflector, support and tracking system, cleaning system, heat collector and heat transfer system, direct steam technology system, storage system and cooling system.
Up to now, TeraSolar has already gained 12 authorized invention patents, 45 utility model patents, 32 Invention patents pending approval and has submitted 21 PCT international patent applications, among which 2 applications has entered PCT national stage. Along with continual enter of strong new members, the national solar thermal energy alliance has enhanced its cohesion and unity, which reflects the impact of the alliance on the industry has grew.
