On November 8th, led by Liu Luping, Vice Chairman and Professor-level Senior Engineer of CSTA, representatives from several directorate units including Aozhan Industrial Co., Ltd., Henan Ancai Solar Thermal Technology Co., Ltd., Hangzhou Huayuan Frontline Energy Equipment Co., Ltd., Inner Mongolia Green Energy New Energy Co., Ltd., and Inner Mongolia Baichuan Solar Thermal Technology Co., Ltd., visited China Power Construction Corporation Guiyang Survey and Design Institute Co., Ltd. Wang Jianbao, Secretary of the Party Branch and Dean of the New Energy and Power Engineering Department, Lv Yanjun, Chief Engineer, Cheng Qiang, Director of the Smart New Energy Center, Wang Yang, Deputy Chief Engineer, and engineers Xiang Xin and Du Mingyang, along with other technical personnel from relevant departments, participated in the discussion and exchange.
Wang Jianbao, Secretary of the Party Branch and Dean, introduced the situation of the New Energy and Power Engineering Department. He stated that the key to integrating concentrated solar power with wind and photovoltaic power lies in leveraging the dual functions of peak load regulation and energy storage of concentrated solar power. Concentrated solar power has been included as one of the key areas for business expansion of Guiyang Institute. As the executing department for solar thermal business, the department is determined to innovate with an integrated investment, construction, and operation model, and to vigorously develop the "Solar Thermal +" new track.
Vice Chairman Liu Luping indicated that the purpose of the directorate member visit is to assess the recent development trends in the solar thermal industry, share core capability information among member units, and seek potential opportunities to leverage their synergistic effects. As a new member of the alliance, China Power Construction Guiyang Institute is one of the earlier "comprehensive Class A" service enterprises involved in concentrated solar power technology services in China. In 2021, driven by two integrated development policies, the Chinese concentrated solar power industry, which had been quiet after the initial demonstration phase, welcomed a new wave of development enthusiasm. Multiple "solar thermal +" projects were approved and successively initiated for construction. Especially in April 2023, the National Energy Administration issued the "Notice on Matters Related to Promoting the Scaled Development of Concentrated Solar Power," which further increased the popularity of the concentrated solar power industry. According to statistics from the Solar Thermal Alliance, there are currently more than 30 concentrated solar power-related projects under construction or in progress in China. Based on the current construction progress and plans, these projects will start to be connected to the grid and put into operation successively from this year.
According to the current construction progress and plans, these projects will start to be connected to the grid and put into operation from this year. China Power Construction Guiyang Institute has accumulated strong technical strength in the fields of integrated development and construction of hydro, wind, and photovoltaic power, offshore wind power, new energy storage, compressed air energy storage, hydrogen geothermal energy, CCUS, and digital energy. Entering the concentrated solar power field at this time is timely and will play a greater role in exploring and promoting the coordinated development and optimization of various types of technologies such as solar thermal +, new energy storage, and hydrogen storage, achieving higher corporate goals.
During the free exchange session, the attendees discussed various aspects of concentrated solar power and the investment, technical details, project implementation, cost control, and market development of "solar thermal +" expanded application scenarios. There was a consensus that concentrated solar power has great development potential, and there is a large scope for cooperation among the member units of the Solar Thermal Alliance.
