The alliance standard “Test Method for Heat Loss of Parabolic Trough Tube Receiver”to be published next year

On December 8th, 2015, China National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance convened a meeting by phone, reviewing the draft of the Alliance standard “Test Method for Heat Loss of Parabolic Trough Tube Receiver” that was submitted by Institute of Electrical Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

The Test Method for Heat Loss of Parabolic Trough Tube Receiver specifies how to test the steady-state heat loss coefficient of parabolic trough solar receiver and its statistics processing. The method is applicable to variable tube receivers, including parabolic trough solar receiver for concentrating solar power, middle-low temperature trough solar receiver for solar thermal application system, and other one-through glass-metal inner tube structure solar receiver.

During the meeting, the Alliance’s standardization expert panel pointed out that the method still needs to be revised and completed with more data and experiments. It’s necessary to test different parabolic trough tube receivers from more manufactures and have cycle tests on other platforms except for Beijing Badaling solar thermal platform, and comparisons with testing platforms from abroad is also required, so as to push the work forward scientifically, reasonably and efficiently.
