At 11:28 on April 30, China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Thermal Power Construction CO., LTD. successfully connected its 100 - MW solar thermal project in Turpan, Xinjiang, to the power grid.
This solar thermal project is part of the Turpan 1 - GW "Solar Thermal + PV" integrated project. Located in Qiketai Town, Shanshan County, Turpan City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the project covers 30 square kilometers with a total capacity of 1 GW. It includes 900 MW (AC - side) of PV and 100 MW of solar thermal capacity, featuring 12 hours of heat storage. This project is a key component of the national "14th Five - Year Plan" for new energy development in the northwest region.

The solar thermal project was jointly contracted by a consortium comprising Cosin Solar Technology Co., Ltd. ,China Energy Engineering Group Zhejiang Electric Power Design Institute CO., LTD.and Zhejiang Huaye Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. Dongfang Boiler Co., Ltd., secured the contract for the molten salt heat absorber system. Zhejiang Zhongguang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. was awarded the contract for production and operation maintenance services. Shandong Ainesen New Material Technology Co., Ltd.was responsible for supplying 15,000 tons of molten salt eutectic, and Hangzhou Huayuan Frontline Energy Equipment Co., Ltd. provided a 45 - MW molten salt electric heater.

Once completed, the integrated project is expected to generate approximately 1.8 billion kWh of electricity annually from the PV power station and about 170 million kWh from the solar thermal power station. It aims to save approximately 6.6 million tons of standard coal and reduce CO₂ emissions by about 1.7 million tons per year.
