CGN and China Datang's Combined 500,000kW Solar Thermal Projects Proposed for Inclusion in the Demonstration Projects of Advanced Green and Low-carbon Technologies

On April 2, the National Development and Reform Commission released the Draft List of Demonstration Projects of Advanced Green and Low-carbon Technologies (Batch II) for public comment. After a series of procedures, including project unit application, local review and recommendation, third-party institution evaluation, and departmental and local verification, the second batch of demonstration projects of advanced green and low-carbon technologies was determined, incorporating a total of 101 projects. Among them are the 300,000kW molten salt parabolic trough solar thermal power generation demonstration project implemented by CGN Solar Energy Delingha Co., Ltd., and the photovoltaic-thermal power generation integration demonstration project with abandoned electricity heat conversion implemented by China Datang Group New Energy Co., Ltd.

CGN 300,000kW Molten Salt Parabolic Trough Solar Thermal Power Generation Demonstration Project

Construction Region: Qinghai

Construction Content: CSP demonstration project. The project employs proprietary large-aperture molten salt parabolic trough technology and modular mirror field technology. It mainly constructs a 300,000-kilowatt parabolic trough solar thermal power generation system. The heat collection field uses an 8.6-meter aperture trough, with a total of 407 heat collection loops designed. Each loop has an area of 63,880 square meters, and the total heat collection area is about 2.6 million square meters. The heat storage duration is 8 hours. After completion, the project is expected to generate approximately 700 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, with an equivalent annual utilization hour of about 2,400 hours, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by about 380,000 tons per year.

China Datang's Abandoned Electricity Heat Conversion Photovoltaic-Thermal Power Generation Integration Demonstration Project

Construction Region: Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps

Construction Content: Photovoltaic-thermal integration demonstration project. The project uses large-capacity, low-cost linear Fresnel solar thermal power generation technology and converts abandoned photovoltaic electricity into heat storage through electromagnetic heating technology. It mainly constructs a 2,000,000-kilowatt photovoltaic-thermal power generation facility, with a single solar thermal unit capacity of 200,000 kilowatts. The mirror field area for the linear Fresnel solar thermal power generation technology is 1.63 million square meters, and the photovoltaic capacity is 1,800,000 kilowatts. The project is constructed in an integrated "photovoltaic + solar thermal" mode. After completion, the project is expected to generate 3.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, with an equivalent annual utilization hour of 1,600 hours, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by about 1.72 million tons per year. It will effectively enhance the dispatchability of CSP.
