On April 11, the CHN Energy Hebei Company Longshan Power Plant 600MW fossil - fuel - fired power project with steam extraction and molten salt thermal storage completed all performance tests under different conditions. All parameters meet the design requirements and it was officially put into operation.
As a key scientific project of the CHN Energy, it has a total investment of 320 million yuan and covers an area of about 7,900 square meters. It uses multi - source steam extraction and steam distribution control technology. It can both regulate the peak load and meet the peak load demand. It's a large - scale project that uses molten salt as the thermal storage medium to store energy during grid off - peak hours and releases energy during peak hours, improving grid stability.

Fossil - fuel - fired power generation integrated with molten salt thermal storage is a new type of clean, efficient, and environmentally friendly energy storage method. It features fast response, stable operation, and low maintenance costs. After Longshan Power Plant’s fossil - fuel - fired units applied this technology, their peak - regulation capacity increased by 100 MW and their peak - load - meeting capacity by 30 - 60 MW. Also, the internal heat exchange efficiency of the molten salt thermal storage system is no less than 95%, and the power conversion efficiency is no less than 70%. The unit’s ramping rate increased 1.5 times. The project can consume about 520 million kWh of new energy annually.
