On March 6, 2025, CSTA and Solar Thermal Power Committee of Chinese Renewable Energy Society organized a visit to Dongfang Boiler Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Dongfang Boiler") by nearly 40 representatives from member units. Li Weicheng, Vice President of Dongfang Boiler, Chief Expert Huo Suoshan, Vice President of the New Energy Business Division Hua Wenhuan, and Deputy Director of the Digital Technology Research and Development Department He Jie warmly received the delegation.
Huo Suoshan expressed a warm welcome to the visiting group on behalf of Dongfang Boiler and extended sincere thanks to CSTA for its long-term strong support. He stated that since 2009, Dongfang Boiler has been focusing on key equipment and technologies for CSP and now holds more than a hundred technical patents. It is also one of the main compilers of the national standard for the design specifications of solar thermal tower power stations. Dongfang Boiler not only possesses the complete set of technologies for solar thermal power tower systems and the design, manufacturing, and supply capabilities for heliostats, receivers, and steam generators but has also participated in the system integration and equipment supply of several domestic solar thermal power projects. Dongfang Boiler will continue to leverage its strengths, enhance exchanges and cooperation with member units of CSTA, and jointly promote the development of the CSP industry.
Wang Zhifeng, a researcher at the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of IEA SolarPACES, noted that Dongfang Boiler's achievements in the field of CSP are remarkable. Its technological innovation capabilities and rigorous equipment manufacturing capabilities have provided strong support for the continuous development of the industry. The purpose of CSTA's visit and exchange activity is to deepen the understanding and cooperation among member units, explore common industrial technologies, and thank Dongfang Boiler for providing such a valuable opportunity for learning and exchange. CSP, as an important technology in the energy field, has welcomed a significant opportunity for large-scale development under the guidance of the "Energy Law." CSTA will promote in-depth collaboration along the entire industry chain through joint research projects within the Alliance, accelerate the core technology breakthroughs and commercial application processes, and drive technological innovation and industrial upgrading. Wang Zhifeng also stated that CSTA actively supports and organizes high-level international cooperation projects on the SolarPACES platform, working with global peers to solve scientific and technological challenges and promote cost reduction in CSP.
Subsequently, the visiting group engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges with Dongfang Boiler's technical experts on issues such as the domestication of tower receivers, cost reduction and efficiency improvement in CSP, the development trends of solar thermal technology, and the challenges faced.
The visiting group toured the Dongfang Electric Technology Exhibition Hall and the Dongyang Manufacturing Base of Dongfang Boiler.
Through the "technical discussion + on-site observation" integrated communication model, this visit effectively promoted the deep integration of industry, academia, research, and application.
