On November 24, 2024, the "Focus Interview" program on CCTV Channel 1, in a special program titled "China's Contribution to Climate Change Response," reported on the outstanding Chinese contribution made by the China Nuclear YuMen New Energy "Solar Thermal Energy Storage +" demonstration project, which was jointly contracted and constructed by Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. of China  Power Engineering Consulting Group and Dunhuang Dacheng Shengneng New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., in response to climate change!
The program introduced the power generation principle of molten salt linear Fresnel concentrating solar power technology; fully affirmed the advantages of this technology, such as low construction difficulty, high safety, and convenient maintenance; and highlighted the excellent characteristics of solar thermal energy storage projects in terms of peak load regulation, carbon reduction, stable power generation, and long-term energy storage.

It is understood that the YuMen "Solar Thermal Energy Storage + Photovoltaic + Wind Power" demonstration project is located in the Gansu YuMen City HongLiuQuan Wind and Light Storage Comprehensive Energy Demonstration Base. It is a supporting project of the first batch of "Desert and Gobi" large-scale wind and light base projects and one of the first batch of "Solar Thermal + New Energy" demonstration projects in Gansu Province, with a total installed capacity of 700MW. Among them, the 100MW solar thermal energy storage project is currently the world's largest installed capacity molten salt linear Fresnel solar thermal power station, which achieved full capacity production on September 20, 2024, and will exert a strong effect on emission reduction and carbon lowering.Up to now, the project has achieved 440 million degrees of power generation, equivalent to an annual saving of 521,000 tons of standard coal and 1.4 million acres of afforestation.
