On May 30, the consortium of Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. (NWEPDI) of China Power Engineering Consulting Group, Northwest Construction & Investment Co., Ltd of China Energy Engineering Corporation Limited (CEEC) and Energy China Road & Bridge Engineering Construction Co., Ltd signed the investment agreement with Dunhuang Municipal People's Government on the Hami-Dunhuang city trans portation and energy in tegration project and multi-energy complementary integration demonstration project built in Dunhuang.

The multi-energy complementary integration demonstration project that will be built in Dunhuang will be composed of one 100MW CSP plant + 600MW solar PV plant. It will adopt the large aperature parabolic trough solar collectors developed by NWEPDI with independent intellectual property rights, which was selected as the first (set) of major echnical equipment projects in the energy field of the China National Energy Administration in 2021.

It is understood that with the support of the World Bank Fund, NWEPDI launched the project of large aperature parabolic trough solar collector development in May 2018. Through the integratedde signs of optical concentration, thermodynamic process, light steel structure, hydraulic drive and control system,NWEPDI has developed thel argest aperature parabolic trough solar collector in the world.

The aperature width of the collector is 8.6 m, and the netheat collectin garea of a solar collector assembly (SCA) is 1285 m². It adopts a torque frame steel structure bracket, and is equipped with a rotary hydraulic drive device and a precise control system. "Compared with the traditional European solar trough collector, its annual average optical efficiency is increased by 5% to 8%, and the cost is reduced by 15% to 25%. " said the project leader.

In October 2020, the large aperture solar trough collector demons tration circuit was built and commissioned in the Haixi Multi-energy Complementary Demonstration Project Base, and the performance reached the design goal. In the future, the equipment will also be used in a number of Green Power projec tssourced by multi-energy.
