On Sep. 23, the sixth solar thermal graduate student forum organized by China National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance was closed successfully in School of Chemical Engineering and Technology of Xi'an Jiao Tong University. The forum lasted two days and there’re 29 graduate students from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Institute of Electrical Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xi'an Jiao Tong University, Yunnan Normal University, Tianjin University, Gansu Building Materials Research and Design Institute, Wuhan University of Technology, Beijing University of Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology made presentations on the forum.

DR. Wang Zhifeng, executive vice chairman of China National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance made a summary statement. He pointed out that there’re three main purposes of holding this graduate student forum, “the first one is to build a platform for the demand of qualified personnel, by which the enterprises can identify their future employees, the second is to promote the exchanges on research methods and R&D results among universities and scientific research institutes, and the third is to create the deep communications among students with expert teachers from outside,” Dr. Wang said. In particular, he emphasized that the graduate students should "combine theory with practice", and the students should pay more attention to scientific experiments and using the experiments results to correct the simulation and make cross disciplinary integration and research if possible. In the end, he encouraged the graduate students to do challenging work after graduation to accumulate the experience of life instead of finding a comfortable and stable job.
Professor Wei Jinjia from Xi'an Jiao Tong University made the closing remarks; he spoke highly of the quality of the reports and the research scope of the students.
There’re 5 experts who were invited to be the judgers of all the presentations, namely prof. Wei Jinjia from Xi'an Jiao Tong University, prof. Zhao Li from Tianjin University, Mr. Shao Jixin from Gansu Building Materials Research and Design Institute, prof. Yu Bo from Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, and Dr. Wu Jianzhong from AECC Xi'an Aero-Engine Ltd. All the presented reports were evaluated in scores from aspects of research method, innovation, and the combination degree of theory with practice. In the end, there’re 10 reports that were awarded.
After the forum, all the participants visited the solar concentrating Photovoltaic/thermal (CPV/T) experimental system of Xi'an Jiao Tong University.
