The 2nd China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference was held successfully in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, China from August 10 to 12, 2016. The conference was organized by National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance, Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics and Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, and hosted by Inner Mongolia Electric Power Survey & Design Institute Co., Ltd, Inner Mongolia Lenon New Energy Co., Ltd. and Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences. More than 400 delegates from home and abroad presented the conference.
Opening ceremony
Those addressed on the opening ceremony include: Dr. Wang Zhifeng, Chairman of the conference and executive vice Chairman of National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance; Mr. Qin Xiaoping, General Manager of Inner Mongolia Electric Power Survey & Design Institute Co., Ltd. and vice chairman of National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance; Mr. Zheng Fangneng, director of Energy and Transportation Division of High and New Technology Development and Industrialization Department, Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China; Mr. Li Xinnan, secretary-general of the Alliance Liaison Section, Ministry of Science and Technology of the People’s Republic of China; Mr. Jin Hongguang, adademician of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Mr. Li Baoshan, vice chairman and secretary-general of Chinese Renewable Energy Society; Mr. Zhou Xiaoxin, adademician of Chinese Academy of Sciences; Mr. Yi Yuechun, chairman of National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance.
The conference lasted for three days, and included five breakout sessions, two face-to-face dialogues and poster session. The conference topics include solar concentration and collection, high efficient heat transfer and thermal storage, solar thermal power generation system, technical scheme of solar thermal power plant demonstration project and technical standards and testing methods, the value of solar thermal electricity to the power grid, and challenges during the construction of the solar thermal projects, etc.
Closing ceremony
On the afternoon of August 12, the closing ceremony of the conference was held. Mr. Mr. Shao Jixin, vice chairman of National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance hosted the ceremony. Ms. Yuan Xiaoxing, vice general manager of Inner Mongolia Lenon New Energy Co., Ltd made a short speech on behalf of the local organizer. Dr. Wang Zhifeng delivered the closing remarks as the Chairman of the conference. On the closing ceremony, it was announced that the 3rd China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference will be held in Dunhuang city, Gansu province next year. (Translated by Cheng Wenyan)
