On June 21, the board of directors of China National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance approved the proposal to make research on technical requirements on molten salt used in CSP plant that was put forward by Bai Ji Rui (TianJin) New Energy Co., Ltd and reviewed by the Alliance’s standardization expert panel.

As it known that molten salt is one of the widely used medium in thermal storage of concentrating solar thermal power plant. The molten salt is one kind of mixture composed of varied single-component salts, and currently there’re only product quality requirement on single-component salt instead of mixture in China. This proposal is to study the impurity type and content of each kind of salt in the mixed salt, in order to realize the reasonable control of the quality and ensure its safe and reliable use in the lifetime of the CSP plant.

The study report will be formed in the Alliance’s standard to publish. According to the Alliance’s Interim Measures on Standard Management, as the initiator of this standard, Bai Ji Rui (TianJin) New Energy Co., Ltd would take full responsibility to organize this study. It is expected that this standard will fill the gap of no domestic or international standard on mixed salt quality control. (Translated by Cheng Wenyan)
