National Alliance for Solar Thermal Energy Held Conference in IEE

On Sep.22, 2009, the conference of National Alliance for Solar Thermal Energy, sponsored by Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IEE, CAS), was held in IEE. The aim, through implementing the national strategy “improving the innovation ability of enterprises, building an innovative country” and the Development Plan Outline for Medium and Long Term Science and Technology Development (2006―2020), was to impulse breakthrough in solar thermal technology and industry field based on industry, academe and research institutes cooperation, and enhance autonomous innovation ability and core competitiveness in this field. The conference was hosted by Dr. Wang Zhifeng, director of Key Laboratory of Solar Thermal Energy and Photovoltaic System of Chinese Academy of Sciences.

More than 60 representatives from various industries, including the subordinate offices of Gansu Province Committee and Government and many other city committee and government, several big power groups such as China Huadian Corporation, China Guodian Corporation, China Datang Corporation and China Power Engineering Consulting Group Corporation, some large listed company such as Xian Air Power Co., LTD, Jin Jing Group and Baoding Tianwei Group Co., Ltd., and domestic solar thermal energy leading companies, for examples Himin Group and Sunrain Group, and national Institutes like IEECAS, CIOMPCAS, IPECAS, IMRCAS, ETPCAS, National Green Coating Engineering Technology Center(in Lanzhou Jiaotong University), and universities such as Tsinghua University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Wuhan University of Technology, Chongqing University, North China Electric Power University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Zhongshan University.

At the beginning of the meeting, participants first learned the Guidelines on Promoting the Structure of Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliances, which was published by 6 ministries and commissions including Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ministry of Finance, State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council earlier this year, and the Audit Work Procedures of Strategic Alliance for Technological Innovation issued by MOST .

After that, Dr. Wang Zhifeng introduced the draft agreements of National Alliance for Solar Thermal Energy and solicited opinions from all sides. (Yao Zhihao)
