On August 10, the 3rd China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference successfully concluded in Dunhuang, Gansu, lasting for three days.

The conference conducted a total of 51 in-depth technical oral presentations and dialogues in two principle themes, showed 23 posters, 10 exhibitors, covering all aspects of solar thermal electricity technology and explaining the theme of the conference, that is, to promote the industrial development of solar thermal electricity with technologies.
The progress of the country’s first solar thermal electricity demonstration projects is the most concerning problem of the industry, which is also the focus of this session of conference. On the eve of the opening of the conference, commissioned by National Energy Administration and China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute, China National Solar Thermal Alliance convened a close-door meeting to talk about the real status of the 20 CSP projects. The representatives of relevant project owner units made frank and sincere statements on respective project progress, plans, difficulties and suggestions. On August 8, at the opening ceremony of the conference, Yi Yuechun, President of China National Solar Thermal Alliance, introduced the solar thermal electricity demonstration project progress. The report points out that the main problems and difficulties in the promotion of the demonstration project mainly include early management to be implemented and strengthened, financing difficulties, technical work to be accumulated and strengthened, basic requirements and conditions of the industrial chain, reasonable profit to be guaranteed and other factors. At the same time, the report also made recommendations for further work: First, we should strengthen the coordination of demonstration projects, improve corresponding management, and hope to regard demonstration project research as an opportunity to coordinate the difficulties during the implementation of project implementation process and to promote construction of demonstration projects. Second, we should strengthen the project financing coordination. Third, we should strengthen cooperation of the industrial chain to promote the follow-up development. The good performance and recognition of the implementation situation of the first solar thermal demonstration projects will have a profound and positive impact for the development process of solar thermal industry. President Yi Yuechun also hopes that all project units can shoulder the task of promoting the development of the industry, organize, develop and construct the project well; he also hopes that the member units can give full play to superiority, make up for the weaknesses, make concerted efforts in all links of the industry chain, to make contributions to promoting the country’s solar thermal health and sustainable development.
In accordance with the tradition of China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference, the organizer and host place of the next session of the conference were announced at the closing ceremony of this session of conference. The Fourth Session of China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference will be hosted by Changzhou Royal Tech CSP Co., ltd., located in Changzhou.
