——The China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference 2018 Grandly Held 
“Those who are like-minded will not be separated from mountains and seas.” The China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference 2018, a most authoritative and most influential solar power technology conference in the country, was held grandly in Changzhou on September 12. Many people from around the world attended the meeting to jointly seek for “driving the development of solar power industrialization with scientific and technological innovations”.
 
The China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference 2018 (the Conference) was hosted by the China National Solar Thermal Energy Alliance (CNSTEA) ,Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics, Chinese Renewable Energy Society and Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, organized by Royal Tech CSP Co., Ltd, and co-organized by Beijing AOPU Star Tech Co., Ltd and Hebei DaoRong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd, and gained vigorous support from organizations such as Beijing Shouhang IHW Resources Saving Technology Co., Ltd, Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Limited of Power China and LIANTES Energy Co., Ltd.

More than 400 people, including the academicians Xu Jianzhong, Zhou Xiaoxin, He Yaling from Chinese Academy of Sciences, and related leaders such as Liang Yibo, Vice Mayor of the People's Government of Changzhou Municipality, Zhang Hongjun, Executive Duty Mayor of the CPC Yumen Municipality, Dai Shifu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Wujin District Committee; Li Baoshan, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Li Ruomei, national member of World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) Executive Council, Yi Yuechun, Vice President of China Renewable Energy Engineering Design Institute (CREEI) , Zhou Ying, Head of the Academic Department and the Popular Science Department of the Chinese Society for Electrical Engineering, Jiang Longhe, head of the Renewable Energy and Solar Power Research Department of the Korea Institute of Energy Research and other well-known experts, scholars, representatives of enterprises and institutions, research institutes, investment agencies and industrial societies, attended the opening ceremony of the Conference. As a hosting city, Vice Mayor Liang Yibo delivered a passionate speech firstly. He said that the Conference gathered top-class experts and entrepreneurs from the fields of new energy in the whole country and ever in the world, which marks we have taken another step towards advancing the new energy industry and also offers favorable support for Changzhou to build a high-quality star-grade city; I hope to take this Conference as a chance to fully exchange industrial information and resources like talents, more accurately study, judge and master the development of global new energy industry, actively promote the communication and collaborative development of related industrial communities based on the development reality of relevant industries in China and Jiangsu and make due contributions to the high-quality development of regional economy.

As the representative of the hosting party, Academician Xu Jianzhong, Honorary President of Chinese Society of Engineering Thermophysics, said in a statement that, for solar power, continuous and stable electricity production can be realized through thermal energy storage. Thermal energy storage can overcome intermittence and instability in solar energy, which is the remarkable advantage of solar power. Our country is rich in solar power resources, at the same time, solar power technology, which develops based on friendly environment and extensive resource foundations, has huge potential for development worldwide. After a dozen years of development, solar power technology in our country has basically matured, which paves the way for further exploring a method for the mass production of electricity.

He pointed out that, technology will not develop without the support of policies. National support is crucial at the beginning of development of solar power, including, support with multiple financial policies, feed-in tariffs, preferential tax, giving full play to the role of the market mechanism, and breaking local protection. The country should vigorously encourage and advance the research and development of thermal power generation, including basic research, key technology and systemic integration, and increase the level and capacity of equipment production. To realize solar power industrialization, we need to take action methodically and need to learn a profound lesson from excessive production capacity in other industries due to a dash-up.The development of renewable energy requires efforts at multiple levels. Therefore, we need to apply new thinking, new technologies, crossed and integrated strategies in multiple fields, vigorously resolve problems in systemic integration and key technology to facilitate the scaling and commercialization of solar power technology in our country.

As the co-hosting party, Yu Guoxing, Chairman of Royal Tech CSP Co., Ltd, said in a statement that based on the philosophy of Beautiful Scenery is the Gold and Silver Mines, new energy had developed. Photo-thermal power generation has huge advantages in energy-saving and emission reduction, adjustment of energy structure, grids and other aspects. Photo-thermal development is a highlight full of new energy revolution, and photo-thermal development contributes to advancing improvement in ecologic environment and social economic development in our country. Each of us in the photo-thermal community has the feelings for optotherma, carry forward the spirit of tackling difficulties, advance the realization of industrialization and localization progresses, improve overall competitiveness for industrial competition and lay a solid foundation for the development of photo-thermal industry. At the early stage of current industrial development, I hope people in the photo-thermal community could work together to push the Chinese photo-thermal cause to a next level.

Xue Daorong, General Manager of Beijing AOPU Star Tech Co., Ltd, made a statement on behalf of the co-organizer of the Conference. He said that, keeping is harder than winning; utilization of solar energy should be a high-end industry the country supports with emphasis today and tomorrow. There is huge potential for development in the thermal fields such as low-temperature steam, hot water for heating, and sea water desalinization. If the markets for high-temperature power generation and mid-and low-temperature utilization in solar energy can take effect simultaneously, our optotherma will have a more promising outlook and will also play an important role in the energy transformation in our country.

As a major sponsor and a co-organizer of the Conference, Yi Yuechun, Chairman of the CNSTEA , made a speech finally. He described that as the Class A national alliance of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Solar Thermal Energy Alliance always actively organizes the roll-out of innovation and cooperation in technologies related to utilization of solar energy, builds a technical exchange and cooperation platform, normalizes industrial development, and advances the industrialization progress of solar power. At present, the Solar Thermal Energy Alliance has more than 100 member units accumulatively, covering key procedures in the full-industrial chain of solar power. In recent years, the Solar Thermal Energy Alliance has played the role of organization, coordination, bridges and bonds to offer technical support and services for photo-thermal technological innovation, industrial development, governmental management of solar energy in our country. Currently, new energy industry in our country is developing towards diversification, systemic optimization and increasing quality and reducing costs. As an emerging and potential industry, solar power is in the stages of experiment, demonstration, commencement and industrialization construction and needs attentions and support from all parties and even needs joint efforts from the industrial community. He hoped the attendees could proactively exchange and discuss technologies at the Conference and offer advice and suggestions for the promotion of development of photo-thermal technology and industry of solar energy. In the future, the Solar Thermal Energy Alliance will team up with member units to make contributions to the development of solar utilization industry in our country.

After the opening ceremony came to an end, the academicians Zhou Xiaoxin and He Yaling made the keynote reports of the “Building Chinese New-generation Energy System in the Energy Transformation” and the “Current Status and Future Outlook of the Development of Concentrated Solar Power Station and Its Thermal Storage Technology” respectively. President Yi Yuechun  and General Manager Yu Ke of Royal Tech CSP Co., Ltd, delivered the keynote speeches of the “Solar Power Project Progress and Industrial Development Outlook in Our Country” and the “Promoting Reduction in the Cost of Solar Power through Technical Innovation” respectively.
