High-Precision Solar Concentration Operation: The World's Northernmost Tower Molten Salt CSP Plant Sets New Power Generation Record

Recently, the CGN Jixi Base 100 MW solar thermal power plant—the world's northernmost solar thermal power plant and the first of its kind in Northeast China, built with the participation of Cosin Solar Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Cosin Solar"), a council member of the China Solar Thermal Alliance—rapidly achieved full-load operation, with single-day power generation exceeding one million kilowatt-hours, marking that the project has acquired the capability for stable commercial operation.

The project was successfully connected to the grid on June 29, 2026, and faced complex weather challenges in its first month of operation, with frequent rainy and cloudy days. Operational data shows that in July 2026, the total DNI at the project site was only 118.95 kWh/㎡, with 14 rainy days, 13 cloudy days, and only 4 sunny days throughout the month. Even under such demanding operating conditions, relying on the intelligent solar thermal power plant operation solution independently developed by Cosin Solar, the plant adopted fully automated intelligent control technology: the solar concentration and heat collection system accumulated 17 days of operation, with a heat collection achievement rate of up to 99.74%, greatly improving solar resource utilization and operational stability, and effectively solving the pain point of the high operational difficulty of solar thermal power plants under manual operation modes.

Subsequently, the plant successfully completed a 77.5-hour continuous unit operation and full-load performance test on August 11. The unit was started and connected to the grid on August 8 and ran continuously and stably until August 11, generating a total of 2.92 million kWh; among this, single-day power generation on August 9 reached 1.064 million kWh, setting a new record for the highest single-day output since the project went into operation—fully verifying the plant's mature commercial operation capability for stable generation and efficient full-load operation.

As a main participant in the construction of the project, Cosin Solar was primarily responsible for the technical solution and equipment integration and supply of the solar concentration and heat collection system, as well as related commissioning and operational guidance services. The project is located in a severe cold climate zone at 45.36° north latitude, where the minimum temperature reaches minus 37.3 degrees Celsius and wind speeds can reach Level 9. The high-precision intelligent heliostats independently developed by Cosin Solar can withstand extreme environments such as severe cold and strong winds, and are equipped with an automatic correction system based on visual recognition to continuously ensure the concentration accuracy of the heliostats. The plant's rapid achievement of full-load operation after grid connection fully verifies that Cosin Solar's concentration and heat collection system possesses strong environmental adaptability and operational reliability.
