On February 8, 2026, the China Renewable Energy Society organized an appraisal meeting in Beijing for the scientific and technological achievement "High-Temperature Molten Salt Trough Collector Flexible Connection Flat Rotary Joint for CSP" completed by ROYALTECH Seven experts from authoritative industry research institutions, design institutes, and national-level testing agencies in the fields of power and thermal engineering formed the appraisal committee to conduct a comprehensive review of this key component technology for CSP.

 

At the appraisal meeting, the technology development unit reported in detail on the design principles, material selection, sealing structure, and long-term reliability verification data of the flat rotary joint, and submitted performance test results, novelty search reports, and user application certificates. After listening to the reports, reviewing technical documents, and conducting inquiries and discussions, the expert committee unanimously agreed that: this flat rotary joint technology has independent intellectual property rights, with innovations in wedge sealing structure, injectable soft packing, and connector processing and fitting processes. The experts unanimously agreed to approve the appraisal, with the overall technical level reaching international leadership.

 

As the core equipment of the next-generation high-efficiency CSP technology, molten salt trough collectors require flexible connection components to maintain sealing reliability under long-term operation at temperatures above 550°C, high pressure, and frequent rotation conditions—a "bottleneck" problem constraining the engineering application of this technology. The flat rotary joint appraised this time adopts innovative sealing structures and materials, passing 11,000 rotation life tests without leakage, and is equipped with an online injection valve design, enabling maintenance without shutdown.

 

This technological breakthrough marks a key innovation in the critical equipment field of molten salt trough CSP, laying the foundation for the commercialization of solar molten salt trough technology.
