Professor Wang Zhifeng: Building Solar Culture to Gain Whole-Society Support for CSP Industry Development

On January 29, at the judging session of the 3rd Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) Photography Competition hosted by the China Solar Thermal Alliance and supported by the Solar Thermal Power Generation Committee of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society, Wang Zhifeng, Chairman of the Alliance and Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, proposed leveraging the upgraded photography competition as an innovative tool to deeply cultivate the development and construction of solar culture. He emphasized using the power of imagery to illuminate the path of sustainable industry development, bringing the value and charm of CSP into the public eye, and continuously enhancing the industry's social influence.

Professor Wang Zhifeng put forward the concept of solar culture construction. The awards ceremony for this year's CSP Photography Competition will be upgraded and featured at the 2026 China Concentrating Solar Power Conference, with additional sharing and review sessions plus a dedicated sub-venue, allowing both art and technology to shine together at the conference. Sustainable industry development requires cultural construction and cultural heritage; only on this foundation should we pursue efficiency and cost reduction, otherwise we will fall into the dead end of unrestrained cutthroat price competition.
