Cosin Solar’s 350 MW Golmud Tower CSP Project: All Three Heat-Receiver Foundations Reach Grade Level

On 20 November, the 350 MW tower concentrating solar power (CSP) project in Golmud, Qinghai—developed by Cosin Solar Technology Co., Ltd. (Cosin Solar)—passed a major milestone: concrete pouring for the foundations of all three solar receiver towers was completed, officially bringing every tower “out of zero meters” (grade level). As the world’s largest single-site CSP plant, the achievement lays a solid foundation for the full-scale construction of the main works.

The plant adopts a “three-tower, one-turbine” configuration and is equipped with 14-hour molten-salt thermal storage. The heliostat field will cover roughly 3.3 million m². Since the official groundbreaking on 16 October, the project team has coped with the challenges of high-plateau conditions through meticulous planning and tight scheduling. While maintaining strict safety and quality controls, the team completed the critical “out-of-zero-meter” node for all three towers in a remarkably short period, demonstrating Cosin Solar’s mature engineering-management capability and extensive experience in building large-scale CSP projects in demanding environments.

Work is now proceeding in parallel on thermal insulation and curing of the tower foundations and on the foundations of the assembly workshop, with every aspect of the project advancing in a coordinated manner. In the next phase, Cosin Solar will cooperate closely with all participating contractors to strengthen whole-process control of safety, quality and schedule, ensuring the plant is ready for grid-connection on time.
