Concentrating Solar Collector System of Datang Shichengzi 100 MW CSP Project Successfully Completed

On 3 November, the concentrating solar collector system of the 100 MW solar thermal section of Datang Shichengzi 1 GW “CSP + PV” integrated clean-energy demonstration project was successfully completed. This milestone marks the project’s transition to the commissioning phase, entering a critical period of testing as it races toward grid-connection.

Located in Yizhou District, Hami City, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the project is one of the third-batch “Gobi Desert” base projects designated by the state. It is built in a complementary “CSP + PV” configuration, comprising 100 MW of concentrating solar power and 900 MW of photovoltaic capacity. The CSP plant uses linear Fresnel molten-salt energy-storage technology. The EPC contractor for the CSP portion is the consortium of Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., LTD, of China Power Engineering Consulting Group (standing vice-chairman unit of the China Solar Thermal Alliance) and NORTHWESTERN THIRD ELECTRIC POWER CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD. Lanzhou Dacheng Technology Co., Ltd. (vice-chairman unit of the CSTA) supplied the concentrating solar collector system equipment.
