On October 16, the 350MW tower CSP project of Cosin Solar Qinghai Yichu in Golmud — the world's largest in terms of single-unit scale, heliostat field reflection area, and energy storage scale — officially broke ground. With a total investment of approximately 5.435 billion yuan, the project adopts a "three towers and one unit" design. Its heliostat field covers an area of about 3.3 million square meters, and it is equipped with a 14-hour molten salt energy storage system, with a designed annual power generation capacity of approximately 960 million kWh.
In this project, Cosin Solar undertakes key tasks including the whole-process project management, the process design of the entire plant (excluding the conventional island), the supply of core system equipment, and technical guidance for commissioning, operation and maintenance.
China Energy Engineering Group Northwest China Electrical Power Test Research Institute CO., LTD, the executive vice-chairman unit of the CSTA, is responsible for the design of all systems except the heliostat field, covering core links such as heat storage and exchange, generator sets and auxiliary systems.
Northwest Engineering Corporation Limited undertakes the design of key core systems and components, including the multi-tower and multi-heliostat field layout, the receiver tower and receiver system, the distributed molten salt heat storage system, the scheduling optimization of multiple heat storage modules, and the long-distance transportation of molten salt.
