Sichuan's First CSP Project Officially Receives Legal-Entity Approval

The Aba County “CSP+” 2 GW solar complex has recently secured formal confirmation of its legal-entity status. Located in Maikun Township, Maierma Town and Anqiang Town, Aba County, Aba Prefecture, the project will integrate 200 MW of CSP with 1.8 GW of photovoltaic (PV) generation and align with the centralized heating demand of Aba County town.

Development will proceed in two phases:Phase I: 100 MW CSP + 1.8 GW PV and Phase II: an additional 100 MW CSP.

A dedicated clean-energy district-heating station will be built in parallel. Upon completion, the plant will supply heat to roughly 500,000 m² of buildings in Aba County town.

As the first CSP project in Sichuan Province, it will leverage molten-salt thermal storage to strengthen grid stability, smooth renewable-output fluctuations and optimize the regional energy mix. The scheme also pioneers a multi-energy complementary model for cold, high-altitude areas of southwest China, driving CSP cost reductions, scaling deployment and fostering coordinated progress in livelihoods and the energy sector—advancing ethnic unity and social stability.
