Jinta Zhongguang 100 MW CSP Plant Rapidly Achieves Strong Operational Performance

According to the latest on-site report from Cosin Solar Technology Co., Ltd., the 100 MW solar-thermal unit of the Jinta Zhongguang “CSP + PV” pilot project has entered a stable operational phase, with power-generation figures climbing steadily in recent days.

The CSP plant was successfully synchronized to the grid on 28 May 2025 and achieved full-process commissioning on 10 July 2025. Within only 11 days it reached full-load operation, generating 1.024 million kWh in a single day on 21 July. Over the last ten days the plant has produced a cumulative 7.0672 million kWh. From 24 to 29 July it ran continuously for 128 hours without a shutdown, adding 4.6128 million kWh to the total. In the afternoon of 29 July the system was taken offline as scheduled due to sandstorm conditions.

Reaching such performance levels so soon after full-load operation demonstrates Cosin Solar’s deep understanding and control of tower CSP integrated solutions and confirms the maturity and reliability of all core equipment. Further improvements are expected as mirror-field cleaning efficiency is optimized. The Jinta Zhongguang 100 MW CSP project is poised to become another industry benchmark following the 50 MW Delingha demonstration plant in Qinghai.

Project Overview

The Jinta Zhongguang “CSP + PV” pilot project is one of the second batch of large-scale wind-solar bases focused on deserts, Gobi areas, and barren land. Located within the Baishuiquan Photovoltaic Industrial Zone in Jinta County, Jiuquan City, the project has a total installed capacity of 700 MW, configured as 600 MW of PV and 100 MW of CSP with 9 hours of molten-salt thermal storage. Once fully operational, it is expected to deliver about 1.45 billion kWh of clean electricity annually, save roughly 480,000 t of standard coal, and cut approximately 1.36 million t of CO emissions each year, making a significant contribution to local socio-economic development and energy-saving emission-reduction goals.
