On 24 July, the CSTA—led by Vice-Chairman Mr. Liu Luping—brought representatives from member organizations including AoZhan Industral Co.,LTD, Henan Ancai Hi-tech Co., Ltd., Dalian Yaopi Glass Co., Ltd., Qingdao Huachen Weiye Electric Power Technology Engineering Co.,Ltd., Wuhan Suanda, and the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to Wuhan Sunnpo Solar Technology Co., Ltd. (SUNNP) for an on-site visit and technical exchange. SUNNP’s General Manager Jin Wei and Deputy General Manager Ma Zehui extended a warm welcome.
The delegation’s first stop was Shengpu’s solar-thermal mirror manufacturing workshop. At close range they observed the entire production flow: processing of ultra-clear glass substrates, mirror-surface treatment, precision bonding and assembly, rigorous quality inspection, and protective packaging.
Precision Manufacturing:The delegation paid particular attention to SUNNP’s advanced coating line, which employs high-precision magnet-ron sputtering to guarantee outstanding film uniformity, adhesion, and long-term stability.
Stringent Quality Control:The workshop houses state-of-the-art optical-performance testers (e.g., reflectometers), mechanical-property test rigs, and climate chambers that simulate harsh environments, demonstrating an almost uncompromising quality system. Key mirror indicators—reflectance, weather resistance, and sand-abrasion resistance—meet or exceed international benchmarks.
Customization Capability: General Manager Jin Wei emphasized SUNNP’s ability to tailor mirror curvature, dimensions, and mounting interfaces for all major concentrator types (parabolic-trough, tower, linear-Fresnel, and dish), leaving a strong impression on the visitors.
During the subsequent round-table discussion, Mr. Jin outlined SUNNP’s history, core business, track record in CSP projects, and strategic roadmap. Since its founding, SUNNP has participated in 18 demonstration and pilot CSP projects. Its mirrors have been supplied in bulk to nine commercial CSP plants developed by clients such as CSSC, Cosin Solar, Shouhang High-Tech, and SunSum, covering a total mirror area of approximately 3.8 million m². Mr. Jin stated that SUNNP is eager to work closely with Alliance members to tackle technical challenges, enhance the global competitiveness of Chinese mirrors, and help drive down costs and boost efficiency for the CSP industry.
Under the moderation of Researcher Lei Dongqiang, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on mirror technology trends, performance improvement priorities (higher reflectance, stronger environmental adaptability, longer service life), cost-reduction pathways, standard-system development, and domestic and international market opportunities and challenges.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Liu Luping noted that mirrors—described as the “eyes of concentration” in CSP systems—directly affect power-plant efficiency and economics. Through sustained innovation, SUNNP has achieved technological breakthroughs and scaled production in this critical field, significantly strengthening China’s self-reliant CSP supply chain. The CSTA will continue to leverage its platform role to foster deep exchanges and collaborative innovation among mirror manufacturers, plant developers, design institutes, and research organizations to solve common technical challenges.
Mr. Liu emphasized that the visit was highly productive, deepening member understanding of SUNNP’s technical prowess and building broad consensus on upstream-downstream collaboration and core-equipment advancement. The CSTA will continue to organize activities focused on key technologies and equipment, injecting strong momentum into the large-scale, high-quality development of CSP industry.
