On May 30 local time, the South Africa Redstone 100MW tower CSP station project, which was contracted by Shandong Electric Power Construction Corporation No.3, a member of theCSTA, received a commercial operation certificate from the South African national power grid company, marking the project’s official entry into the commercial operation phase.
Located in the Postmasburg area of South Africa’s Northern Cape Province, the project uses tower molten salt solar thermal technology and is the first tower molten salt CSP station in South Africa. It has 41,260 heliostats installed on site. After commercial operation, the project is expected to deliver 785.8 GWh of clean electricity to the South African power grid each year, meeting the electricity needs of about 200,000 local households. During the construction period, the project provided more than 600 direct job opportunities for the local area, with about 1,800 employees hired at the peak of the project, making an important contribution to the local economic and social development.
