On December 11, Review meeting of feasibility studies on Jinfan Golmud 2×100MW Molten Salt Parabolic Trough CSP Project was successfully held in Beijing. The project feasibility study report was prepared by Power Construction Corporation of China Northwest Engineering Corporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Northwest Engineering”) and Golmud Jinfan CSP Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as ” Jinfan CSP”) is the project owner.

It is reported that Jinfan CSP was established in December 2016 with a registered capital of 100 million yuan. It is wholly-owned by the Tianjin Binhai Concentrating Solar Power Investment Co., Ltd. and mainly responsible for the development, construction and operation of CSP plants.

The review meeting was organized by the China Renewable Energy Engineering Institute. Northwest Engineering carried out a detailed description of the project’s feasibility study report. It’s said that the project is located in the CSP Planning and Development Park of Golmud City and covers an area of 10.25km2. The total aperture area of the mirror field is about 2.83 million sq meters. The plant is equipped with 15 hours molten salt heat storage system using the binary molten salts (60% NaNO3 and 40% KNO3), with a thermal storage capacity 7640 MWth.

Taking into account the specific construction conditions, ultra-high pressure and temperature direct air-cooled steam turbine with 100MW of stand-alone rated power may be applied to the project. Upon completion, the project will be integrated into the Northwest Power Grid.

The project is expected have a static investment of 6443.1 million yuan and a dynamic investment of 67225.1 million yuan. The construction period is 2 years and the operation & maintenance period is 25 years. After the completion of the project, it is estimated that the annual generating capacity will reach 790 million kWh.
