On December 16th, 2015, National Energy Administration (NEA) announced the winner list of 2014 Outstanding Achievement Award for “Soft” Science of Energy of NEA. “Research Report of China Solar Energy Development Roadmap(2020、2030、2050)”, compiled by the China Renewable Energy Society, Energy Research Institute of National Development and Reform Commission, China National Renewable Energy Center and Institute  of   Electrical   Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences, won the third place.

Based on the development of three main solar energy applications: solar photovoltaic power   generation, concentrating solar power and solar thermal application, and according to China's current energy and power structure, energy consumption, and environmental condition,  the report put forward a series of the strategic targets of China’s solar energy development and development scenarios by 2020, 2030 and 2050. Taking China solar energy resource, available land, roof resource conditions, grid conditions and energy storage technology development into consideration, the report also analyzed three solar energy application development law and needs of China future energy structure transformation.

From a comprehensive perspective, the by summarizing the experiences and problems that happened during the development of solar energy technology and industry, the report analyzed and proposed a feasible and practical solar energy development roadmap that considered the features of the technology, industry and market of the solar energy at different time point . The study aims  to provide valuable reference for the government plan, industrial progress, academic innovation, enterprise development, financial investment, media publicity and to provide support and basis for “autonomous, independent, clean, sustainable” energy system of China

It is known that NEA started this evaluation work since April 2015, aiming to motivate the enthusiasm and creativity in “soft” energy science of industry and society, improve management and strategy level of government managing department and promote scientific development of energy industry. 2014 Outstanding Achievement Award for “Soft” Science of Energy of NEA has selected 5 first prizes, 19 second prizes and 21 third prizes in total.
