On December 31, 2024, the Tibet Zabuye Off-grid Integrated Energy Station (referred to as: Zabuye Project) successfully achieved grid-connected power generation with its CSP system, marking the global highest altitude (4500 meters), isolated network operation integrated energy station using parabolic trough CSP system as the main power source, entering the trial operation phase.
The project is invested and constructed by Baowu Clean Energy (Tibet) Co., Ltd., with SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Co., Ltd. winning the bid for the EPC of the solar thermal power station, photovoltaic and energy storage projects, as well as the comprehensive energy supply project comprehensive energy station maintenance and technical services; CSSC serves as the technology and main equipment provider, responsible for the process design, core process equipment integration supply, solar collection system EPC, and commissioning operation of the integrated energy station.
Since the commencement of the Zabuye solar thermal project in March 2023, it has achieved full system grid-connected power generation in 1 year and 9 months. The project has broken through the construction and operation limits of CSP stations, setting a world record for the highest altitude and the shortest construction time. Through the joint efforts of the owners and participants, the parabolic trough CSP technology has been successfully extended to high-altitude and grid-end areas, setting a new benchmark for the development of solar thermal and new energy industries.
