Since the realization of 24-hour uninterrupted power generation on June 18,2021, as of December 28, Xinjiang's first 50MW concentrating solar power plant (CSP)has accumulated tens of millions of kilowatt-hours of power generation, marking the project has entered a stable operation period.

A sone of the first batch CSP demonstration projects approved by the National Energy Administration (NEA),this CSP plant is invested and managed by China Energy Engineering Investment Corporation Limited, built by Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. of China Power Engineering Consulting Group (NWEPDI) as the EPC contractor, with whole-plant full process engineering design.

"After optimized operation, the project is able to be connected to the grid for a long period of time for power generation, and participate in grid dispatching operation in strict accordance with the requirements of the CSP station operation evaluation index. The main steam temperature, main steam pressure, and daily load rate have continued to rise, and the key technical indicators have gradually reached the design requirements. The project construction was successfully completed.”Zhou Zhiyong, deputy general manager of the project company said.

The Hami CSP project has a total investment of 1.6 billion yuan, equipped with 13h molten salt thermal storageand the annual designed generation is 198 million kWh. The CSP power station can realize the full decoupling operation of the concentrating and thermal collecting system and the power generation system, with superior peak-shaving ability.
