Zhejiang Supcon Solar Technology Co., Ltd. (shorted as Supcon Solar), a leading CSP project developer and EPC contractor in China that the Huanghe Hydropower Development 135MW Molten Salt Tower Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Project was already transferred to SUPCON and would be restarted soon.
The Huanghe project was selected as one of China first batch of 20 demonstration CSP projects in September 2016, but was halted in the past three and half years for some reasons. At the very beginning, the project took DGS tower CSP technology from BrightSource Energy and changed the route into molten salt tower further on. And the location was set at Delingha, Qinghai Province at that time.
Supcon Solar will take over the 135MW CSP project from the previous investor, Huanghe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Power Investment Corporation.
The 20 pilot projects, with total capacity of 1.349 GW, were granted in September of 2016. The investors may enjoy a FiT RMB 1.15/KWh if they can complete the project and connect to the grid by the end of 2018. However, only 3 projects met the deadline, and another 4 projects reached grid connection one year later. Aiming to activating the undeveloped pilot projects, the National Energy Administration issued an announcement by the end of Jan 2020, claiming that CSP pilot projects investors will still get a preferable FiT (most likely a little bit lower that RMB 1.15/KWh), if they can complete the project and connect to the grid by the end of 2021. This encourages the confident investors like Supcon Solar and Shouhang to grab more CSP pilot projects to their investment portfolios.
SUPCON Solar
as a Chinese leading CSP tower project developer, EPC and technology provider, owned and developed China first 10MW CSP project and the well-known 50MW SUPCON Delingha Molten Salt Tower CSP Project. Apart from that, Supcon Solar is also the solar field EPC contractor of Power China Gonghe 50MW Tower CSP Project which was completed in September, 2019.
Since its foundation in 2010, SUPCON SOLAR has been dedicated to the research of molten salt tower CSP technology, equipment and utility-scale application, using advanced and efficient CSP technology to provide high-quality and low-cost clean energy. Through years of technological breakthrough, SUPCON SOLAR has mastered integrated molten salt tower CSP technologies and established whole industrial chain, which is able to provide domestically sourced equipment, providing reliable and mature solutions of CSP plant construction.
Moreover, Supcon Solar is also positive and active in global CSP markets and quite open to seek for cooperation with overseas partners in CSP project development, EPC, equipment & material purchasing etc. As CSP Focus reported earlier, the consortium of Energy China CGGC International and Supcon Solar was awarded as the EPC contractor for Greece MINOS CSP 50MW Tower Project last year, and the project is now looking for partners and vendors.
The MINOS project will take tower CSP technology with an installed capacity of 50MW and a 5-hour molten salt heat storage system, and is expected to be executed based on the technology and project development & construction experience of Supcon Solar.
