Nearly one year has passed since China’s first batch of CSP demonstration projects have been approved. It is only 17 months left for those CSP projects to be finished by the end of 2018, according to the deadline set by China’s National Energy Administration.
To fulfill the task on schedule, these projects should be started at least in April, 2017, given to the unique environment in northwestern China as well as the subjective factors for China developing first batch of commercialized CSP projects.
To learn the current situation better, CSPPLAZA have collected some updated progress of China’s first batch of 20 CSP demonstration projects. It is can be seen that the overall development of these projects are not as good as expected, and the result by the end of 2018 may not be too optimistic. High pressures do existe for the development of these projects.
1.CGN Delingha 50MW parabolic trough CSP demonstration project
Solar field, thermal storage system and power island is in complete construction. Up to now, more than 30% of solar field has been completed, DCS of BOP of power island has charged successfully on July 14th, 2017.
2.Shouhang Dunhuang 100MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
The end of 2015, starting construction;
November 2016, starting overall construction;
July 12th, 2017, the tower has been built to the height of 120.15 meters;
By the end of August, 2017, the tower is expected to be completely finished;
September, 2017, heliostats is planned to be installed and expected to be finished in May,2018;
March, 2018, steam turbine to be received;
June, 2018, steam turbine cylinder to be buckled;
August, 2018, grid-connected power generation.
3.SUPCON Delingnha 50MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
Construction: site formation has been completed, storage tank and tower have started construction;
Engineering: design for system process package, mirror field arrangement, power system, and molten salt system have been finished;
Procurement: procurements of main components of heliostat field, steam turbine generator unit, receiver, thermal storage tank and heat transfer exchanger have been finished.
4.Jingfan Energy Aksay 50MW molten salt parabolic trough CSP demonstration project
Construction: ancillary works has been started, main construction is in preparation, 90 % of site formation has been finished;
Engineering: design review and construction drawing are in completion; main construction is going to be started;
Equipment supply: Tianjing-based plants for reflective mirrors and trackers have been built, which is expected to operate to provide product in August.
5.Yumen Xinneng 50MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
Financing was invested by Suzhou THVOW Technology Holdings Ltd. (referred to as THVOW Tech) and its subsidiary China Sinogy Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (referred to as CSEEC) won the Yumen Xinneng 50MW molten salt tower CSP project EPC bidder with a bidding price of 1613.17 million yuan.
The construction was officially started on June 8th, and foundation construction on July, 20th.
6.CNNC Royal Tech Urat 100MW parabolic trough CSP demonstration project
Financing of this project was completed successfully in July. Site formation was started on July 21th, which marks the beginning of the construction.
7.Rayspower Yumen Dongzhen 50MW parabolic trough CSP demonstration project
China Eleventh Chemical Construction Company Limited won the EPC bidding for solar field and power system. Shanxi Xiecheng Construction Project Manament company won the bidding for project supervision. EPC tender for thermal storage island was opened, but the result has not came out yet. Procurement for steam turbine was completed and financing is in advance.
8.Dacheng Dunhuang 50MW molten salt fresnel CSP demonstration project
Wall round the site has been built; site formation and part of the collector field are under construction.
9.Zhongyang Chabei 64MW molten salt parabolic trough CSP demonstration project
Sit construction was started on July 26th, and financing was solved partly.
10.CPECC Hami 50MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
Northwest Electric Power Design Institute Co., Ltd. of CPECC won the EPC bidder. Tender result for steam turbine, generator, steam generation and other equipment are already came out but not concentrator system.
11.Three Gorges Jinta 100MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
EPC tender announcement was released on June 28th, but the bidding winner has not decided yet.
12.Changzhou Royal Tech Yumen 50MW parabolic trough CSP demonstration project
Procurement of a proportion of main equipments were finished; construction drawing was completed; tender for project supervision was completed; financing is in advance.
13.Guohua Yumen 100MW tower CSP demonstration project
EPC tender was opened in February 8th, 2017, but the winner has not decided yet.
14.Huaqiang Zhaoyang Zhangjiakou 50MW fresnel CSP demonstration project
Problem on the land for building the project is solved on July16th. Running test of power generation for steam turbine in its 15MW program got one time success on July 10th.
15.State Power Investment Huanghe Hydropower 135MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
Still in advance.
16.Dahua Shangyi 50MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
It is coordinating the land problem.
17.North United power Urat 50MW fresnel CSP demonstration project
Building permission was acquired; financing is in advance (social capital is allowed).
18.China Power Northwest Engineering Qinghai Gonghe 50MW molten salt tower CSP demonstration project
Foundation was officially started working on June,18th, which is scheduled to release the tender soon.
19.Zhongxin Zhangbei 50MW fresnel CSP demonstration project
It is still in advance, without obvious progress.
20.CECEP Gansu Wuwei 100MW parabolic trough CSP demonstration project
It is still in advance, without obvious progress.
