Early in the years of 12th five-year plan, China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN) had announced its plan of building a 50MW parabolic trough power plant in Delingha, which had the groundbreaking on July 1st 2014. As the first commercialized parabolic trough project in China, its progress earns a lot of attention from the whole industry.
The plant locates in the west part of Delingha, Qinghai, covering an area of 2.46 square kilometers, with local DNI of 1976 kWh/ (m2y). The system has 192 ET-3 loops in total, with an aperture area of 620,000 m2 and a 7-hour double-tank molten salt thermal storage system. With a planned 4500 annual operation hours, the plant is expected to have an annual power generation reaching 2250 million kilowatt hours, using a certain amount of gas as the auxiliary energy supply.
It is reported that the land leveling has been completed, and a windproof has also been set up. Since the end of Aug. 2014, the subcontractors of the bid winner of BOP EPC have started construction. At present, the basis of the power block has been completed. Starting from the bidding for land leveling of the plant, CGN has released almost 20 bids; some of the key bidding has been listed in the table below:
·Aug. 2014, the basic engineering of the plant called for bid. Aries, Idom, Ingeteam and Ener-Tingeteam competed for the bid, finally Ingeteam won the bid.
·Dec. 2014, owner engineer called for bid. Worley Parsons, Aries competed for it, Aries won. After bidding, failing, and bid again, owing to only two bidders failing to meet up with the rule of at least three bidders, it was settled through negotiation.
·Feb. 2015, turbo generator unit called for bid. Dongfang Turbine, Dongfang Electric Corporation won.
·Mar. 2015, oil/water heat exchanger called for bid. Harbin Turbine, Harbin Electric Corporation won. On June 29th, Harbin Turbine and CGN Delingha Solar Energy signed equipment supply contract of oil/salt heat exchanger of CGN Delingha 50MW CSP plant inBeijing.
·Mar. 2015, molten salt pump called for bid. It was planned to start on March 19th, 2015, and postponed to March 26th. The result hasn’t been released.
·Mar. 2015, heat transfer oil pump called for bid. The result hasn’t been released.
·May 2015, BOP EPC called for bid. The result hasn’t been released.
·Jun, 2015, oil/salt heat exchanger called for bid. The result hasn’t been released. The announcement was published on Feb 25th. Because of high requirement of qualification, the bid failed. Rebidding result hasn’t been released.
·Oct. 2015, the solar field EPC called for bid. After starting the technical bid, owners were still evaluating and questioning the bidders. The commercial bid was expected to open in early October, but still no news announced.
·Oct. 2015, heat transfer oil called for bid. Bidder should have products supplying experience for at least two parabolic trough plants or chemical plants or petrochemical project. The supply amount for each project should overweigh 1000 ton. A number of companies failed to satisfy this requirement.
·Oct. 2015, heat transfer and thermal storage system EPC called for bid. This bid was soon annulled after its opening. After revising the bid qualification, it was restarted on August 24th. Then the opening date of the bid was postponed to October 21st.
·Oct. 2015, molten salt called for bid. The bidding information was released in Sep. 2015. Being the same with optical field EPC bidding and heat transfer oil bidding, this bid was organized by ADB too. Till now, all bids that uses ADB loan have been issued. On October 28th, molten salt called for bid. Sinkiang Nitrate Minerals Co., Ltd, Wentong Potassium Salt Co., Ltd,Jiangxijinlida Potassium Co., Ltd, and SQM Beijing commercial Co., Ltd took part in it. The result would be released soon.
