With the grid parity development of solar PV and wind power, and the commercialization acceleration of electric energy storage, the concentrated solar power (CSP) is facing severe challenges. Reducing the cost is the urgent task, and among the cost reduction measures, technology advancement is the main way.
To build a platform and promote the exchange and cooperation of CSP science and technology, China Solar Thermal Alliance (CSTA) will hold the 5th China Solar Thermal Electricity Conference from August 20-22 in Hangzhou, with a local host of Supcon solar.
Currently the conference is calling for speeches. Recently Dr. Zhao Changying, Chair Professor, Director of Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Executive Dean of China-UK Low Carbon College, confirmed that he will share the progress of thermochemical heat storage research.

Brief introduction of Prof. Zhao
Chair Professor and the Director of Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Executive Dean of China-UK Low Carbon College. He obtained his PhD degree from Cambridge University. His research mainly covers heat transfer in porous media, nano/microscale thermal radiation, and thermal energy storage. Prof. Zhao is the Principal Investigator for quite a few major research projects including the key project of Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Key Basic Research Programme (973), and UK EPSRC. He has published over 200 papers, and the published papers are SCI cited about 4000 times, were awarded the Most Cited Chinese Researchers by Elsevier from 2014 to 2018. Prof. Zhao is the Executive Board Member of Asia Union of Thermal Science and Engineering (AUTSE) and also serves as the editorial board member for quite a few international journals.
